1) PostDoc Position for Seq-on-a-chip - a highly miniaturized platform for parallel sequencing analysis combined with high throughput screening of live cells

Sequencing techniques such as ChiP-seq, RNA-seq, single-cell sequencing are important methods in the field of cell and molecular biology that enable access to detailed information about processes within the cells. Phenotypic high throughput screening is inevitable method in fundamental science as well as in the fields of drug discovery and toxicology. Here we want to combine novel miniaturized high throughput platform Droplet-Microarray for phenotypic screening of live cells with parallel sequencing-based read-out in nanoliter size droplets. Droplet-Microarray platform was developed in the group of Dr. Pavel Levkin „Functional and stimuli-responsive polymer surfaces“ ( The platform consists of a panel of hydrophilic spots of different sizes divided by hydrophobic borders. Due to the high wettability contrast between syperhydrophilic and superhydrophobic surfaces cell suspension applied onto such surface will spontaneously form an array of separated droplets containing live cells. Droplet-Microarray enables the screening of hundreds to thousands of factors on a standard microscope slide format in volumes ranging from 3 to 80 nL. The main idea of the project is to develop seq-on-a-chip platform by combining highly miniaturized parallel phenotypic cell-based screening with possibility of collecting detailed information about changes in cellular processes using sequencing analysis. The initial goal of this project is to develop and optimize methodology and protocols for highly parallel sequencing on the Droplet-Microarray platform. Different low to high throughput cell based screenings will be performed using developed seq-on-a-chip platform.

We are searching for enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow that holds a major in biology, biochemistry or similar and has experience in working with animal cell culture and sequencing analysis. 2) Hilfswissenschaftler/in Chemie / Chemie-Ingenieurwesen / Maschinenbau

Im Ausgründungsprojekt Aquarray ( bieten wir eine Stelle als Hilfswissenschaftler/in mit einem Aufgabenschwerpunkt im Bereich Oberflächenfunktionalisierung und Beschichtungstechnologie. Aquarray entwickelt in Zusammenarbeit mit Pilotkunden aus den Top 10 globaler Pharmaunternehmen innovative High-Tech Lösungen für miniaturisierte und parallelisierte Zell-Screenings.
Was erwartet Dich?
Interdisziplinäre Forschungsaufgaben im Schnittbereich zwischen Prozessautomation, Biologie und Chemie. Du wirst Teil eines interdisziplinären Forscher-Teams aus Chemikern, Biochemikern, Biophysikern und Biologen. Die Stelle ist für 12 Stunden pro Woche geplant und zunächst auf 6 Monate befristet. Arbeitsort ist der Großforschungsbereich der Helmholtzgemeinschaft, KIT, Campus Nord.
