Our recent paper in Advanced Biosystems titled “Droplet‐Microarray: Miniaturized Platform for High‐Throughput Screening of Antimicrobial” is online now. Congratulations to Wenxi and the co-authors! Great collaboration with Thomas Schwartz´s group at KIT.
The authors demonstrated the droplet‐microarray (DMA) platform can be used for screening the efficiency of clinically used antibiotics against bacterial pathogens. This platform offers the ability to investigate drug‐resistance of bacteria isolated from patients and the environment with minimal cost and effort.

We are happy to announce that our group starts this year in a brand new institute:

Institute of Biological and Chemical Systems - Functional Molecular Systems (IBCS-FMS).

We launched IBCS-FMS on the 1st of January 2020 as an interdisciplinary institute combining fundamental and applied research in Biology, Chemistry and Materials Science. Our group is proud to be a part of a great team of chemical and biological labs of Stefan Bräse, Gary Davidson, Veronique Orian-Rousseau, Mike Meier.

Here is a new website of the institute: https://fms.ibcs.kit.edu/index.php

It´s been a pleasure to organize a special issue of Advanced Functional Materials together with Joanna Aizenberg. The topic of this issue will be "Assembly of Materials Building Blocks into Integrated Complex Functional Systems".

This will be a very strong issue. Just check out some names: Christopher Barner-Kowollik, Stefan Bräse, Hans-Jürgen Butt, Andreas Greiner, Joerg Lahann, Haeshin Lee, Joao Mano, Ali Khademhosseini, Wim Noorduin, Molly Stevens, Andreas Walther, Martin Wegener, Han Zuilhof, Carsten Werner and many others. This is the first announcement and the issue is still not online.

I would like to thank Jos Lenders and Joern Ritterbusch for helping with organization.
